The Global Institute for Transformative Education (“GITE”) filed its articles of incorporation in late 2014. It organized a World Conference on Transformative Education (“WCTE”) in Kakamega, Kenya in 2018. The WCTE promotes the concepts of transformative teaching, learning, thinking, leadership, and research in countries whose education systems are incongruous with the current socioeconomic realities of current times. The theme of the conference was “Rethinking Curriculum, Pedagogy and Research in Africa.”
In order the forge scholarship on transformative education, an open-access journal known as Global Journal of Transformative Education was founded in 2018. It is housed in Indiana University https://scholarworks.iu.edu/journals/index.php/gjte
